The Office of Student Agencies and Institutes welcomes students to apply for the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Book Stipend Award. We bring you this opportunity through collaboration between the Office of the Vice President for Student Affairs and the Black Alumni Association.
Purpose
The purpose of the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Book Stipend Award is to assist Florida State University students in completing their education. MLK Book Stipend Awards are available on a competitive basis to both undergraduate and graduate students.
Eligibility
Due to the sources of funding for this award, there are two sets of eligibility criteria and two awarding groups.
FSU Black Alumni Association: Nominees must identify as African American/Black
Office of the Vice President for Student Affairs: Open to students of ALL racial and ethnic backgrounds
All applicants must be Florida State University students who meet the following criteria:
Undergraduate Applicants:
- Must have completed 15 credit hours of college work at FSU prior to submission of the application
- Must have a minimum GPA of 2.5
- Must carry a minimum of 12 credit hours
- Must be enrolled full-time at FSU for the subsequent academic year
Graduate Applicants:
- Graduate students must be enrolled in a minimum of 9 graduate credit hours
- Must have a minimum GPA of 3.0
- Must carry a minimum of 9 credit hours
- Must be enrolled full-time at FSU for the subsequent academic year
Award
Awards of $350 will be issued from the Office of the Vice President for Student Affairs and the FSU Black Alumni Association. Awards will be issued during the spring semester.
Previous Recipients
Due to the volume of applicants, any student who has been awarded the book stipend in the past may not apply again.
